Summary:
In today’s technology-driven world, technological literacy is extremely important. New devices, like desktop computers, printers, digital cameras, and SMART Boards, are important to the learning process and should be incorporated into the classroom. All of these devices allow students to explore common subjects in a new, exciting way, and at the same time they teach kids how to use different technologies. It is important to upgrade your computers every once in a while because companies create new improvements that make using the computer better and easier. The reason for purchasing a web camera is that it would allow us to connect with other students around the world, which can help the students learn about different cultures. Buying a SMART Board for the classroom would help make learning a more interactive environment, and it would benefit all learning styles. A digital camera would also be beneficial to the classroom because it would allow the students to be more involved with the subject. For example, during a science discussion, the class can go outside and take pictures of various plants, and then be able to discuss the plants with first-hand knowledge.

Currently, the five computers in our classroom are, unfortunately, outdated. Software such as Kidspiration as well as Microsoft Office 2010 Package would help make our computers more useful and up to date. Kidspiration is an age appropriate software that allows children to explore new vocabulary, numbers and concepts. Lessons being taught in the traditional classroom setting can be greatly enhanced with the use of this visual learning software program. Kidspiration has proven to help students’ comprehension, reasoning and problem solving skills. Microsoft Office 2010 Package would include programs such as Word, Powerpoint, and Publisher that can be conducive to a child’s learning experience. Such programs would allow students to organize and present their work in a professional manner.
